Review of March 14th Rotary Meeting:

Eight (8) Club members (Bob, Hearst, Linda, Mac, Mike, Richard, Ross, and Wayne) and one guest of a Rotarian (Jenny McCoy, guest of Wayne) met at the Crowne Plaza for the weekly meeting.  In addition, a total of three (3) other guests (Jeff Sodoma, Dan and Betsy Touhey) were in attendance, two (2) guest speakers (Julie Touhey and David Sutton) and one (1) visiting Rotarian, Mona Forney.
President Hearst began the meeting at 6:30 p.m. with the Call to Order and Welcome.  Past President Bob gave the invocation and President Hearst led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Past President and Membership Chair Linda introduced our guests.  The club members and their guests enjoyed a very nice meal prepared by the Crowne Plaza staff.
Following dinner, President Hearst provided a brief overview of the club’s activities and upcoming meetings and events.  He spotlighted an upcoming business meeting on March 21 and a “road trip meeting” to BOJUart Gallery on March 28.  He encouraged all Rotarians to attend this important business meeting to discuss the matters of the club.  He also noted that our club will be providing volunteers related to the District Grant project at the Virginia Zoo in early May.
Past President Wayne introduced our guest speakers, Julie Touhey and David Sutton.  Julie, a Global Messenger for Special Olympics provided us her remarks regarding her experiences with Special Olympics.  David was then interviewed by Wayne on his various experiences with Special Olympics, from participating in the events to coaching in the events.  Later on, Wayne displayed his autographed sports jersey from a previous World Games sporting event that David participated in several years ago.
President Hearst noted the new club banner, then thanked everyone for attending this evening’s meeting and closed the meeting with the Rotary 4-Way Test.  The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.
