During our next fellowship, we have Mr. Howard Kittell as guestspeaker. Howard J. Kittell is the president and CEO of the Andrew Jackson Foundation, which owns and operates Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. Driven by his passion for American history and the preservation of the sites and landscapes that illustrate those stories, he has held this position since November 2008. Howard Kittell will speak to us about the Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage is one of the first presidential museums, the third-most visited presidential home, considered to be best preserved presidential site, what is Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage today and how does it tell the story of our nation’s consequential and controversial president?

During our fellowship, we arehonored to have Mr. Joe Burnsworth as our guestspeaker. Joe Burnsworth is the President of both the Governing and Foundation Boards at Virginia's first public charter school, Green Run Collegiate. Joe Burnsworth moved to Virginia Beach in 1978 to begin a career as a theatre arts educator at Princess Anne H.S. He retired forty years later having also served as a gifted resource teacher, the Director of Gifted Programs, principal at Kemps Landing Magnet School, and Corporate Landing and Plaza Middle Schools. Since his retirement, Joe spends his time working as an adjunct instructor at Old Dominion University and volunteering as a member of the Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission. |

Fellow Rotarians and Friends of VB Rotary We are pleased to inform and invite you to join us for a Zoom Club Meeting on Feb.4th at 6:15PM for another exciting fellowship. Our guest speaker is Robby Rockey, Executive Director of the Gathering at Scott Memorial UMC. He will be sharing more details about the "Fresh Food Wednesday" program at Scott Memorial UMC. The mission of Fresh Food Wednesdays is to provide free, fresh food (produce, meat, dairy) to those in need in the community. Fresh Food Wednesdays started in 2012 and is a ministry of the Gathering at Scott Memorial United Methodist Church located at 409 First Colonial Road in Virginia Beach. Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, the church has provided food assistance to over 41,000 people thanks to the work of 60-70 weekly volunteers.
